About ENSO and the global consequences.

What is the ENSO Phenomenon? For the Earth System Research Laboratory (n.d) are the "periodic departures from expected sea surface temperatures (SSTs) in the equatorial Pacific Ocean" that causes some of the natural disasters that we live actually, like droughts and floods. Also, is the main cause of the increment of the temperature during the last months of the years. This one have different effects depending of the zone where you live.

    THE EFFECTS IN AMERICA:

The purpose of talking about the United States in this section is to get informed about the consequences that this phenomenon can bring to a developed country like this one. To begin with, United States is one of the biggest countries in the world and for this topic (ENSO) this is considered as a negative aspect because these countries suffered and suffer both of the effects that ENSO bring. This can be evidenced in for example: The State of California had been passing by a drought that generated the reduction of the vegetation and the water level of the river and reservoirs fell.

    THE EFFECTS IN ASIA:

As we saw how the ENSO can affect to a powerful country like United States, is time to see the situation of the other part of the world and know to what extent ENSO can perjudicate to Australia. Actually, Australia is characterized as a desert country but one of the effects of ENSO is the reduction of temperature in the country. This can be evidenced in order that during this time, the weather in Australia gets colder than the average one (and this had been passing some years ago). Even, the web born.gov.au (n.d) affirms that: "Australia's lowest recorded temperature, –23.0 °C, was observed at Charlotte Pass on 29 June 1994, during the 1994–95 El Niño event."

In conclusion, ENSO is a phenomenon that generate the increment of the average temperature worldwide as long as pass the time. Also, the ENSO's effects won't be the same depending of the place where you are. For example; if you are in an American country like USA, the ENSO's effect will be the increment of droughts in the country, and if you are in Australia (Asia) the effect will be the opposite one (reduction of the temperature).
